Despite a long history of research on the influence built environment travel, studies urban form and pedestrian activity in neighborhoods characterized by rapid decline, as evident across U.S. Midwest cities, remain under-represented literature. Moreover, detailed exploration travel inequities experienced socioeconomically disadvantaged is even rare. In examining this measures precise variations environment—with use Road Network Buffers—across Detroit (Michigan) region neighborhoods, including those experiencing severe disinvestment. This study reconfirms that compact promotes non-automobile reaffirms importance more balanced residential, retail commercial land mix encouraging activity, although it also identifies caveats for decline. The contributes to expanding our understanding behaviors within context amenity disparities abandonment disinvestment extreme income divergence. Intersecting sociodemographic dimensions allows deeper much disregarded nuance amongst lower-income, racial minorities highly segregated neighborhoods. • Exploring individual behavior race with better understand behavior.
